New Orleans Saints

  • Conference: NFC
  • Division: South
  • Defense: 4-3

Team Needs

Team Needs:   OT   OLB   SS   DE   OG   K   TE
The Skinny: The Saints, not surprisingly, are in very good shape. Jermon Bushrod is probably not an ideal fit at the LT position, especially from a run blocking standpoint, but opposing D's rarely get to Drew Brees so it's all relative. The Saints wouldn't mind upgrading Scott Shanle at the SAM position, or Roman Harper at SS, and depth on either line is a bonus. The organization doesn't appear to have a lot of confidence in PK Garrett Hartley after his four-game banned substance suspension earlier this season, so they may look to upgrade that position if the opportunity presents itself.
4/15 Update: The Champs lost LB Scott Fujita and RB Mike Bell. The Darren Sharper situation is still up in the air but the guess here is that he'll be back. They also brought in former Bears DE Alex Brown.

Mock Draft

1 -32. OLB Eric Norwood, South Carolina
The Skinny: Based on most experts draft boards, Eric Norwood's stock is on the decline. But we aren't buying it. Norwood may not be a hot name, but he presents good value at the end of the frist round, or beginning of the second. Scott Fujita departed via free agency and New Orleans needs an OLB.

2 -32. FS Morgan Burnett, Georgia Tech
The Skinny: The Saints could take a tackle here, but Burnett is available and they could use a safety.
