Julio Jones closing the gap

After his performance at the NFL Scouting combine, I'm still a bit shocked at how little attention is being paid to Alabama receiver Julio Jones.

According to our latest mock draft data, Jones is selected on average 12th overall, compared to Georgia's A.J. Green who is selected on average 5th overall.

However, momentum has been building for Jones amongst some of the experts.  "The gap has closed. I wouldn't be surprised to see Jones picked ahead of Green at this point.'' says former NFL executive Gil Brandt.

SI.com's Peter King writes: "I'm told the Cincinnati Bengals, who have the fourth pick and are considering a receiver, have Jones ahead of Green on their preliminary draft board."

I've mentioned a few times that I don't believe the gap between Green and Jones is as great as many think. And like Brandt, I would not be at all surprised to hear Jones' name called before Green on draft day. In fact, I did just that in my latest mock.
